كان حلماً وسيبقى حلماً، لكنْ بين «كان» و«سيبقى» تحقّقَ إنجازٌ يجعلُنا نفرحُ بل ونفتخر. فأخيراً ها هي أصواتُ بعضِ أبناءِ وبناتِ «مخيَّم الزعتري» تتحرّرُ من الأسوارِ لتصلَ إلى مطارحَ مفتوحة... سنواتٌ ونحنُ أمام الكارثة. تنفطرُ قلوبُنا، نموتُ مرَّات ومرَّات ونحن نتفرَّج على كلِّ هذا الموت الحقيقيّ. إنّه إحساسٌ مذلٌّ بالعجز. بلدٌ يحترقُ، وأناسُه خُلِعوا من أمكنتهم ليُقذَفوا في عراءٍ على شكلِ مجمّعٍ بُنِيَ على عجلٍ، وربما سجنٍ من الصعوبةِ وصفُه لمن لم يعشْ فيه. أناسٌ حُمّلوا على شاحناتٍ مكشوفة تحت القصفِ والرعب إلى مصائرَ مجهولة، إلى حياةٍ غامضة وما فتئت مؤجَّلة...

Our hearts break; we die again and again as we watch all this real death. It is a humiliating feeling of helplessness. A country is burning, and its people have been uprooted from their homes and thrown into the open in the form of a hastily built complex, perhaps a prison difficult to describe to those who haven't lived there. People were loaded onto open trucks under bombardment and terror, heading towards unknown fates, towards a life shrouded in mystery and constantly postponed

On the Private Archive of Abd Al-Rahman Munif

In 2015 the private library of the author and novelist Abd Al-Rahman Munif was burglarized in his residence in Damascus. Munif is considered as one of the most renowned authors and novelists in the Arab world. During his lifetime, he lived in various Arabic and European countries settling in Damascus the last thirty years of his life until his death in 2004. He has published numerous books, novels and studies in the field of literature.

In the thick contents of Abd Al-Rahman Munif’s library we can read the political and cultural movements of the Eastern Mediterranean and North Africa. In that regard, it is a distinctive case study for a research into the archives of the Arab private library, a central hub for publications. Munif’s biography and his migrations represent finely the trajectories of the Arab intellectual and of his library: Munif was a Saudi writer who relocated and migrated continuously between different countries his entire life. He was also a collector of books. In every place he settled, he set up a personal library at home. His peregrinations began in the 1940s and lasted until the late 1980s. Munif lost some of his libraries, but he managed to bring most of them to Damascus, to his main library, enriched by all the changing historical eras and cultural lives he experienced. Munif’s library uncovers the metamorphosis of knowledge production and publishing practices in Eastern Mediterranean and North Africa region.

The book is based on a long-term research by Fehras Publishing Practices followed by cataloging it’s content that counts approx. 10.000 publications.

في عام ٢٠١٥ تعرّضت المكتبة المنزليّة للكاتب والروائي الرّاحل عبد الرّحمن منيف في دمشق للسّطو. يعتبر منيف من أهم الكتّاب والروائيين في العالم العربي. خلال حياته تنقّل بين العديد من الدول العربية والأجنبية لينتهي به المطاف في دمشق التي بقي فيها ١٧ عاماً حتى وفاته عام ٢٠٠٤. تضم مسيرة منيف العديد من الكتب، الروايات والدّراسات الأدبيّة.

تظهر مكتبة الروائي كمثال مميز للبحث، يقدم بمحتوياته المكثّفة إمكانية قراءة الحياة السياسيّة والثقافيّة لشرق المتوسط وشمال إفريقيا. تُعتبر سيرة عبدالرحمن الذاتيّة وتحركاته مثالاً مميزاً لترحال المثقف العربي ومكتبته. فعبد الرحمن منيف ذاك الكاتب السعودي الأصل، عاش متنقلاً ومرتحلاً في حياته وبشكل مستمر بين بلدان مختلفة. كان منيف أيضاً جامعاً للكتب. فقد أنشأ في كل بلد استقر فيه مكتبةَ منزلية. بدأ هذا التنقّل منذ أربعينيات القرن الماضي إلى آخر ثمانيناته فقد خلالها منيف بعض تلك المكتبات، ولكنه تمكن من احضار معظمها إلى مكتبته الرئيسية في دمشق لتصبح مكتبة غنية جامعة لكل تلك الحقبات التي عاشها بتغيراتها التاريخيّة وحياتاتها الثقافية. تكشف محتويات مكتبته عن تحولات جذرية طرأت على إنتاج المعرفة وممارسة النَّشر في شرق المتوسط وشمال إفريقيا.

يأتي اصدار هذا الكتاب بعد بحث مكثف في أرشيف المكتبة من قبل فهرس الممارسات النّشريًّة، ولاحقاً توثيق محتوياتها التي تقارب ١٠.٠٠٠ منشورة.

تطور «لو لم يكن هذا الجدار» على مدار ثلاث سنوات من البحث، والمعارض، وعروض الأفلام، والمناقشات، والورش التي جرت بمركز الصورة المعاصرة في هذه الفترة. اعتمدت فصول هذا العمل المختلفة على التبادل والتعاون مع أفراد لهم/ن تجربة شخصية مع العزل، ومفكرين/ات، وعاملين/ات بالمجال الثقافي، ونشطاء وناشطات وعاملين/ات بمجالات الطب النفسي وحقوق الإنسان والتاريخ الاجتماعي

“If This Wall Didn’t Exist” evolved over three years of research, exhibitions, film screenings, discussions, and workshops held at the Contemporary Image Collective during this period. The various chapters of this work relied on exchanges and collaborations with individuals who had personal experience with isolation, as well as with thinkers, cultural workers, and activists working in the fields of psychiatry, human rights, and social history.

Muhammad al-Maghuts lyrisches Werk liest sich wie eine Weigerung, die vorgefundene Lebenswelt zu akzeptieren und sich dem Diktat von Polizeistaat und einer repressiven Gesellschaft zu fügen. Das lyrische Inventar dient der Enthüllung der freiheitsfeindlichen, unterdrückerischen Seiten der autoritären arabischen Regime. Dabei richtet sich der Blick nicht nur auf die desaströsen Lebensbedingungen in den arabischen Ländern, sondern auch auf die eigene Versehrtheit und tief sitzende Angst und Verwundbarkeit.

Die bitteren Erfahrungen in politischer Haft prägten seine Weltanschauung und sein Schaffen, wie der Pionier der arabischen Prosadichtung mehrfach in Interviews und Gesprächen mit Journalisten und befreundeten Dichtern betonte.
